Click Link

The fastest way to create a basic hyperlink in a Microsoft 365 document is to press ENTER or the SPACEBAR after you type the address of an existing webpage, such as Microsoft 365 automatically converts the address into a link.

In addition to webpages, you can create links to existing or new files on your computer, to email addresses, and to specific locations in a document. You can also edit the address, display text, and font style or color of a hyperlink.

This article applies to desktop versions of Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. A simplified set of hyperlink features is offered on Microsoft 365 Online. If you have a desktop version of Microsoft 365, you can edit your document there for more advanced hyperlink features, or you can try or buy the latest version of Microsoft 365.

Optional: To customize the ScreenTip that appears when you rest the pointer over the hyperlink, click ScreenTip in the top-right corner of the Insert Hyperlink dialog box and enter the text you want.

To create a new, blank file and link to it, click Create New Document under Link to, type a name for the new file, and either use the location shown under Full path or browse to a different save location by clicking Change. You can also choose whether to Edit the new document later or open and Edit the new document now.

You can also create a hyperlink to a blank email message by simply typing the address in the document. For example, type someone@example.com, and Microsoft 365 creates the hyperlink for you (unless you turned off automatic formatting of hyperlinks).

You can create hyperlinks that link to a Word document or Outlook email message that includes heading styles or bookmarks. You can also link to slides or custom shows in PowerPoint presentations and specific cells and sheets in Excel spreadsheets.

To customize the ScreenTip that appears when you rest the pointer over the hyperlink, right-click the link, click Edit Hyperlink, click ScreenTip in the top-right corner of the dialog box, and enter the text you want.

A URL action is a hyperlink that points to a web page, file, or other web-based resource outside of Tableau. You can useURL actions to create an email or link to additional information about your data. To customize links based on your data, you can automatically enter field values as parameters in URLs.

When users trigger URL actions from selected marks, Tableau can send field, filter, and parameter values as variablesin the URL. For example, if a URL action links to a mapping website, you could insert the address field to automatically open the currently selected address on the website.

The list of available fields includes only non-aggregatedfields. To use aggregated field values as link parameters, first create a related calculated field, and add that field to the view. (If you don't need the calculated field in the visualization, drag it to Detail on the Marks card.)

On platforms like Facebook and Twitter, adding a link to the homepage of your website may be more than enough since you can share clickable links to individual pages, products or content in your posts.

If you want to share links to multiple pages and products, you can also use a link in bio tool. As mentioned earlier, this tool will let you create a custom landing page that houses all the links you want to share. And you can just add the URL of this landing page in your Instagram bio.

Linktree is a great option for anyone who needs an affordable link in bio solution. The free version comes with pretty robust features, letting you add unlimited links and customize them with images and icons. To unlock even more customization features such as removing the Linktree logo and replacing it with your own, you can get the Pro plan for $6/month.

Lnk.Bio is also an excellent option as it lets you add unlimited links even with the free plan. Paid plans, which let you create custom, branded URLs and schedule link updates start from $0.99/month. These will let you create custom URLs that fit with your branding and even schedule links.

This article is intended for business customers who have Microsoft Defender for Office 365. If you're using Outlook.com, Microsoft 365 Family, or Microsoft 365 Personal, and you're looking for information about Safelinks in Outlook, see Advanced Outlook.com security.

Safe Links is a feature in Defender for Office 365 that provides URL scanning and rewriting of inbound email messages in mail flow, and time-of-click verification of URLs and links in email messages, Teams messages and other locations. Safe Links scanning occurs in addition to the regular anti-spam and anti-malware in inbound email messages in Exchange Online Protection (EOP). Safe Links scanning can help protect your organization from malicious links that are used in phishing and other attacks.

Using another service to wrap links before Defender for Office 365 might invalidate the ability of Safe Links to process links, including wrapping, detonating, or otherwise validating the "maliciousness" of the link.

Safe Links scans incoming email for known malicious hyperlinks. Scanned URLs are rewritten or wrapped using the Microsoft standard URL prefix: After the link is rewritten, it's analyzed for potentially malicious content.

After Safe Links rewrites a URL, the URL remains rewritten even if the message is manually forwarded or replied to (both to internal and external recipients). Additional links that are added to the forwarded or replied-to message aren't rewritten.

As long as Safe Links protection is turned on, URLs are scanned prior to message delivery, regardless of whether the URLs are rewritten or not. In supported versions of Outlook (Outlook for Desktop version 16.0.12513 or later), unwrapped URLs are checked by a client-side API call to Safe Links at the time of click.

On: Safe Links checks a list of known, malicious links when users click links in email. URLs are rewritten by default.: Turn on or turn off Safe Links scanning in email messages. The recommended value is selected (on), and results in the following actions:

Apply real-time URL scanning for suspicious links and links that point to files: Turns on real-time scanning of links, including links in email messages that point to downloadable content. The recommended value is selected (on).

Do not rewrite URLs, do checks via SafeLinks API only: If this setting is selected (on), no URL wrapping takes place. In supported versions of Outlook (Outlook for Desktop version 16.0.12513 or later), Safe Links is called exclusively via APIs at the time of URL click.

If the URL points to a downloadable file, and the Apply real-time URL scanning for suspicious links and links that point to files setting is turned on in the policy that applies to the user, the downloadable file is checked.

You turn on or turn off Safe Links protection for Microsoft Teams in Safe Links policies. Specifically, you use the On: Safe Links checks a list of known, malicious links when users click links in Microsoft Teams. URLs are not rewritten setting in the Teams section. The recommended value is on (selected).

After you turn on Safe Links protection for Microsoft Teams, URLs in Teams are checked against a list of known malicious links when the protected user clicks the link (time-of-click protection). URLs aren't rewritten. If a link is found to be malicious, users will have the following experiences:

Clicking the Go Back button on the warning page will return the user to their original context or URL location. However, clicking on the original link again will cause Safe Links to rescan the URL, so the warning page will reappear.

Safe Links protection for Office apps checks links in Office documents, not links in email messages. But, it can check links in attached Office documents in email messages after the document is opened.

You turn on or turn off Safe Links protection for Office apps in Safe Links policies. Specifically, you use the On: Safe Links checks a list of known, malicious links when users click links in Microsoft Office apps. URLs are not rewritten setting in the Office 365 apps section. The recommended value is on (selected).

If the URL points to a downloadable file, and the Safe Links policy that applies to the user is configured to scan links to downloadable content (Apply real-time URL scanning for suspicious links and links that point to files), the downloadable file is checked.

Entries in the "Do not rewrite the following URLs" list are not scanned or wrapped by Safe Links during mail flow but might still be blocked at time of click. Use allow URL entries in the Tenant Allow/Block List to override the Safe Links URL verdict.

The clicked URL has been manually blocked by an admin in your organization (the Block the following URLs list in the global settings for Safe Links). The link wasn't scanned by Safe Links because it was manually blocked.

You can create a link to a file or folder in your Dropbox account to share it with others. When you share a file or folder via link, you can choose to give people with that link edit or view-only access. Learn how to manage your default sharing settings. 041b061a72
